Kuhmo
Kuhmo is located near the Russian border, and is in the province of Oulu.
Population: 10 000 inhabitants.
Area: 5456.83 km², population density 2.1 inh. km².
Kuhmo´s area is more larger than, for example, Tokyo´s (Japan).
Kuhmo was known as Kuhmoniemi in 1854. In 1937 the name was shortened to Kuhmo and it gained the city rights in 1986. The eastern border of the city is the oldest eastern border of Finland.
Since 1970 there is an annual international festival of chamber music, this is when the life in the city becomes lively. People from all over the world come to enjoy the festival.
