Pori

Pori is located on the west coast of Finland and is part of the western region of Finland.
Population: 76 000 inhabitants.
Area: 1372.04 km2, 844.95 - water.
The Kokemäenjoki River played a big role in the founding of the city. At the beginning of the 13th century there sail ships.
By the 15th century Gercog Juhana decided to build a new city near the sea, with his ports. 1558 Gercog Juhana ordered to build the city Pori. At the beginning there were only 300 inhabitants, but the city was growing quickly and in 1564 it received the right of an independent city. But in 1570 there was a big fire, and almost 1/3 of the city was destroyed.
The city started to redevelop and by 16th century, it was the third largest city of Finland.
After World War II the city was destroyed, as well as its infrastructure, but then the city was growing and developing, because of the liberation of taxes. There are many old buildings, historical stones and modern living complexes in the modern city of Pori.
