Kemi
Kemi is located on the north-western coast of Finland in Lapland. It is 95 km from Oulu.
Population: 23 000 inhabitants.
Area: 747.44 km², 644.85 – aqua area?.
Kemi was founded in 1869, the port of Kemi was built at the same time, and then Kemi received right for trading abroad. The city was developing quickly, because of paper mills being built. In1920 a railway was built, and in 1939 an airport.
During the Winter War there were bombings in Kemi, and also during the Lapland War German soldiers tried to burn bridges and other old buildings, but Kemi withstood the attacks.
The City was still developing due to industry enterprise, and the population was growing as well.
